Worried about “The Pyramid”…it hasn’t hurt Exxon or the Catholic Church
I often hear people say, “Oh…watch out…that sounds like a pyramid.” Most days I just laugh as I know that a person saying such a thing means well, and in some cases is right, but doesn’t really have a view of the world around them. Yes, there are some “pyramid schemes” out there…schemes were the only people buying any product are the reps, and the fees charged the new reps pays the old reps. However, there are many legal pyramids out there…you may even be associated with one.
In my own case, I am associated with 2 very closely - ExxonMobil and the Catholic Church. Both of these organizations are have accomplished outstanding things in their existence…and have also been ridiculed for some of there actions or in-actions. However, rarely does one hear, “Don’t join the Catholic Church…it’s just another pyramid. Neither does one hear, “Don’t buy ExxonMobil gas…you’re supporting a pyramid. Yet both of these organizations are structured as pyramids, and run quite well and profitably. In fact most of the organizations out there are structured to reward performance based on a pyramid system of salary, commissions, and bonuses.
So, why do network marketers have to deal with the “Pyramid stigma?” Well, unfortunately, many in our profession take a sound, fair, and workable legal pyramid structure and let greed get in the way, making way for ponzi schemes and other schemes that defraud people of their time and money. Fortunately for those in Ambit Energy, we do not have to worry about such situations as our compensation and structure is setup to reward the thing that all companies must have to stay in business - paying customers of the end product. No Ambit consultant has a garage full of electricity, and no Ambit consultant gets any bonus unless a customer has been gained. No Ambit consultant gets a residual check until his or her customers have paid their bill. It really quite simple - we get paid to gather and keep loyal customers…just like any other successful businesses in the world.
So don’t fret if you hear the dreaded “pyramid” word…it’s a pyramid world we live in…those who work in honestly and hard will prosper!
